Abstract

******* Using Blinder-Oaxaca methodology this paper explores the effect of unions on wages of workers assessing their distribution between public and private workers. With four different groups (union public members, non-union public workers, union private members, non-union private workers) the results indicate that the unionization wage gap is 50 % larger in terms of wages for private sector workers and there is also a 15 % positive differential of income per hour for union workers including the two sectors.
