Numerus Clausus educativo de médicos especialistas

Abstract

En muchos países, incluyendo Colombia, el esquema tarifario de los médicos especialistas depende de la cantidad de procedimientos realizados. Por tal motivo, en esta estructura las ganancias están determinadas por el número total de médicos especialistas en un campo específico y de estudiantes o residentes que se están formando en dicho campo. En este contexto, es importante determinar la manera en que se regula el número de cupos en Universidades y Colegios Médicos para la formación de residentes en las diferentes especialidades, concepto que se conoce como numerus clausus. Este documento busca demostrar, a partir de un modelo derivado de lateoría de la política de la competencia, cómo el número de cupos para la formación de especialistas es determinado por los mismos médicos especialistas o por las Sociedades Médicas, cuyo propósito es mantener sus niveles de ingresos elevados.
