Abstract

Artículo que narra la vida de Nicholas Georgecu-Roegen, su contribución de a la filosofía y la historia de las ciencias aplicadas a la economía merece ser destacada, al menos por dos razones básicas: en primer lugar su análisis crítico sobre distintos problemas de los que se ocupa la ciencia económica contribuye a demostrar que expandir el estatuto de la mecánica clásica para tratar de determinar y explicar el comportamiento de los eventos económicos es una pretensión injustificada, como es también injustificada la confianza excesiva que se ha depositado en la lógica aristotélica para comprender ideas y comportamientos sociales que corresponden al campo de los conceptos dialécticos y no pueden ser explicados sólo por conceptos aritmomorficos. En segundo lugar, desde la perspectiva del pensamiento complejo introduce nuevos y valiosos elementos de análisis que ponen en evidencia la irrelevancia o la fragilidad de algunos de los paradigmas establecidos.
