Abstract

En este estudio se analiza la incidencia del sector financiero en el crecimiento económico de América Latina; se hace un seguimiento a las modificaciones profundas que han experimentado las estructuras financieras de algunas economías representativas (Colombia, Argentina, Brasil, Chile y Venezuela), como resultado de las diversas reformas estructurales aplicadas por los gobiernos en las últimas dos décadas, traducidas en el predominio de este sector en la economía, y cuyas principales características fueron la desregulación y la privatización bancaria, la globalización financiera y la financiarización del mundo económico.
