Abstract

La cuantificación utiliza la mejor información disponible en fuentes públicas.***** Abstract This document expands the argument made by Benavides, Cabrales and Delgado (2022), an article that argued the importance of natural gas and quantified the costs of removing natural gas and coal from electricity generation in Colombia between 2023 and 2035. It introduces figures on energy density and the high costs of electricity produced with non-conventional sources of energy and batteries are presented, to reinforce the need for a transition at a speed that does not harm the country's economy. In addition, it presents the direct costs associated with gas supply restrictions, including the main consumer sectors such as residential, gas-fired thermal generation and industry (apart from coking and refining). Quantification uses the best information available from public sources.
