Impacto de las Exportaciones en la productividad del Sector Manufacturero Colombiano

Abstract

En los últimos anos se han escrito diversos trabajos que estudian el impacto de las exportaciones sobre la productividad de las empresas colombianas. Sin embargo, los diferentes estudios no han podido utilizar información reciente (posterior a 1994), por cambios metodológicos de las fuentes de información. Este trabajo tiene un doble propósito, en primer lugar, busca ofrecer una solución al problema antes mencionado; en segundo lugar, realiza una exploración de la relación entre exportaciones y productividad, a través de estimaciones econométricas para el período 1992-2002. Los resultados indican la existencia de una especie de circulo virtuoso" en el comportamiento de las empresas exportadoras: Las empresas que exportan, adquieren experiencia en los mercados externos y mejoran sus niveles de productividad, lo cual a su vez, beneficia su competitividad en los mercados externos."
