Crecimiento económico, empleo formal y acceso al servicio de salud: algunos escenarios de corto y largo plazo de la cobertura en salud para Colombia

Abstract

El presente documento hace una revisión de las tendencias recientes del régimen contributivo de salud y plantea algunas de sus perspectivas en materia de coberturas en el mediano y largo plazo. A partir de tendencias históricas y diferentes escenarios de crecimiento del empleo asalariado, se formulan algunas previsiones de la evolución de la cobertura en salud para Colombia hasta el ano 2050. También se presentan algunos estimativos del esfuerzo fiscal necesario que se requeriría bajo diferentes escenarios para extender la cobertura en salud a la totalidad de la población colombiana en el mediano plazo. Como conclusión principal se senala que la extensión de la cobertura en salud a la totalidad de la población colombiana solo es posible mediante una reforma que permita incrementar de manera sustancial los recursos con que cuenta el régimen subsidiado.
