Abstract

El Banco de la República es consciente de la importancia de difundir una cultura informativa en torno a la banca central en Colombia, sobretodo cuando se es responsable ante la comunidad del mandato constitucional de velar por el poder adquisitivo del Peso. En este folleto se establece una sinopsis de la entidad como eje del nuevo sistema de banca central instaurado por la Constitución Política de 1991 y de su evolución institucional. Además, se presentan, en términos breves, cuáles fueron los antecedentes de la banca central en el país, remontándose a los comienzos de la Independencia.
