Abstract

This paper describes some demographic, socioeconomic and health characteristics of the municipalities municipalities located in the area covered by the Brumadinho Environmental Disaster that occurred in January 2019. Data from Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), Atlas do Desenvolvimento Humano do Brasil, DATASUS and the Secretaria de Estado da Saúde de Minas Gerais were used. The results show a certain heterogeneity in the indicators used to characterize the municipalities. It is hoped that the information produced can assist future studies and public policies to be carried out in the affected area.
