Abstract

This work has the objective of analyzing the financing for innovation carried out by the Minas Gerais Development Bank (BDMG), from 2011 to 2016. There are currently three types of activities: credit lines, investment funds and direct participation in the capital stock of two technology companies. The focus of the study was the analysis of the credit lines in two perspectives: a) the evolution of the Bank's performance and the sectoral distribution; b) qualitative analysis of the companies that received the resources. These two analyzes allowed us to infer: a) the Bank needs to expand its role in financing innovation, mainly because it has already acquired an experience; b) the importance of cumulative and public support and of different instruments, especially for the induction of innovations with a greater degree of risk, focused at national and international market, was evidenced at company level.
