Abstract

El oro ha desempeñado un papel muy importante dentro de la economía mundial desde hace muchos siglos. En la actualidad el oro desempeña un rol fundamental en la economía moderna y es utilizado para varios propósitos como inversión, joyería entre otros. Con un enfoque financiero, el documento identifica los mercados de oro y su estructura, así también los sectores que constituyen la oferta y demanda de oro, de esta forma el lector puede entender el comportamiento del precio del metal precioso. Adicionalmente, el documento muestra las principales características del oro desde el punto de vista de inversión que lo hacen apto para formar parte de los activos de un portafolio diversificado y propone un modelo que sugiere la toma de decisiones de compra y/o venta de oro en base a los factores más influyentes en la determinación del precio del metal precioso.
