Modelo de pronósticos de nivel de reservas internacionales

Abstract

A partir la gestión 2006, las Reservas Internacionales Netas (RIN) del Banco Central de Bolivia (BCB) se han incrementado de manera importante, llegando a alcanzar una participación de 30% con relación al Producto Interno Bruto de Bolivia en 2016. Dado el alto respaldo de las RIN hacia la economía boliviana, resulta importante poder predecir el comportamiento de esta variable para una toma adecuada de decisiones. En este sentido, el documento pretende brindar una primera aproximación hacia modelos de comportamiento de las reservas y realizar pronósticos a corto plazo de las RIN del BCB, tomando como base modelos con teoría económica subyacente combinándolos con modelos de serie de tiempo. Para seleccionar el modelo de pronóstico más adecuado, se utiliza el criterio del error cuadrático medio. La serie de datos tiene frecuencia trimestral, corresponde al periodo 1999-2016 y el pronóstico se realiza para la gestión 2017 y el primer trimestre de 2018.
