Minería en Bolivia: Implicancias en el comercio y producción

Abstract

Desde la época colonial, el sector minero ha tenido una participación importante en la estructura productiva del país y también enfrentó eventos de vital transformación que han moldeado su desempeño hasta el presente. En la actualidad, el sector minero no cuenta con una extensa literatura sobre el análisis empírico formal, por lo cual este trabajo contribuye, en esta medida, a analizar la relación de las variables más importantes del sector (producción, exportaciones y PIB minero) con la trayectoria de variables internas y externas importantes para el periodo 1990 - 2018. Los resultados muestran que las exportaciones de los principales minerales reaccionan principalmente a la dinámica de la producción, mientras que la producción responde al comportamiento/shocks de los índices de producción industrial de Japón, Corea del Sur, Estados Unidos y China.
