Ley del efecto proporcional: un análisis de los patrones de crecimiento del sistema financiero boliviano

Abstract

El trabajo plantea investigar la distribución del tamaño de las entidades que conforman el sistema de intermediación financiera en Bolivia a partir de una perspectiva dinámica para el período 1990-2012; para ello se verificará si los datos confirman la Ley Gibrat o Ley de Efectos Proporcionales (LEP) a partir de pruebas de raíz unitaria,empleando la metodología de datos de panel. Los resultados señalan que las entidades financieras más grandes crecen más rápido que las de menor tamaño, la existencia de persistencia positiva de las tasas de crecimiento en períodos sucesivos, y que el crecimiento es más variable en las entidades más pequeñas. Por tanto, de acuerdo a la evidencia presentada se rechaza la LEP para el caso del sistema financiero boliviano.
