Abstract

En 1998 el Banco de la República cumplió 75 años de fundado, ocasión que se consideró oportuna para iniciar una serie de publicaciones que presentaran la historia de algunas sucursales del Emisor. La primera investigación de la serie se publicó en septiembre de 1998 y se tituló “Banco de la República en Cartagena, 1923-1929”, escrita por el economista Joaquín Viloria De la Hoz, vinculado al grupo de Investigaciones Económicas del Banco en esa ciudad. La presente publicación está dedicada a la sucursal del Banco de la República en Barranquilla, y su período de estudio abarca entre 1923 y 1951.
