Abstract

With the aim of studying the potential existence of seasonality in the consumer price index (CPI), different sub-periods between 1992 and 2016 are analyzed, for the general level and for different decompositions of the index, up to a three-digit breakdown. The results show the absence of seasonality at the general level of the CPI. However, when working with disaggregated indices according to the different decompositions, identifiable stable seasonality is found for some of the sub-indices studied.
