Desigualdad socioeconómica y escolaridad en Nuevo León

Abstract

A partir de los datos de la ESRU-EMOVI Nuevo León se analizan algunos rasgos sobresalientes de las desigualdades en escolaridad en Nuevo León. El análisis de las desigualdades socioeconómicas en la escolaridad revela que, si bien Nuevo León presenta mayores niveles de escolaridad que el conjunto nacional, persisten una serie de retos para reducir la desigualdad de oportunidades educativas y lograr que la escolaridad sea un vehículo más efectivo de movilidad social intergeneracional. Entre estos retos destacan: a) los rezagos educativos en las zonas rurales y los desequilibrios en la escolaridad entre los municipios centrales y periféricos de la ZMM; b) el rezago relativo en la cobertura de la educación superior; c) la persistencia de altos niveles de desigualdad socioeconómica en las probabilidades de continuidad escolar, particularmente en las transiciones a la educación superior y media superior; d) las restricciones socioeconómicas en el acceso a las instituciones de educación media superior y superior públicas y privadas de mayor prestigio.
