Abstract

Este documento contiene un análisis de ecuaciones estructurales para explorar el proceso de estratificación social en México. Se usa la ESRU-EMOVI para explorar el proceso de estratificación social, iniciando por el modelo clásico propuesto por Blau y Duncan hace ya 50 años (1967). Lejos de ser una solución anticuada, se ha propuesto un enfoque inductivo a los datos para analizar el peso de la ocupación y la educación del padre sobre la primera ocupación, el logro educativo y la ocupación al momento de la encuesta, en 2011. Se introduce también por vez primera un análisis comparado entre mujeres y hombres. Se encuentran diferencias notables con el modelo clásico que sugieren que la educación juega un papel en el proceso de estratificación, y que existe un escenario de movilidad intergeneracional pero no uno de movilidad intrageneracional. Esta relación es todavía más notable para mujeres que para hombres.
