Author

  • Bruno Trancoso Rocha

Abstract

This paper addresses the connection between the Portuguese business composition and the economy's aggregate productivity performance over the past 15-20 years. The paper presents evidence to the fact that the predominance in Portugal of companies of persistently reduced size and productivity translates into losses in aggregate productivity. The author suggests further arguments for the reason of the existing business fragmentation.
