The Agricultural Outlook for 1936

Abstract

Excerpts from the report: The demand for the farm production of the United States of 1936 is likely to be greater than was the demand for the production of the 1935 season. Such increased demand, as reflected by consumer buying power, would result in prices for the present volume of agricultural production higher than in the present season, but an increase in farm production would tend to check the advance in prices. Consumer buying power in the United States is likely to be increased about 10 percent in 1936. The buying power of consumers in many foreign countries is also likely to increase in 1936, but with the various restrictions upon international trade, the foreign demand for American farm products, possibly excepting cotton, is not likely to be increased as much as the buying power of foreign countries.
