Abstract

Excerpts from the report: To obtain a general picture of the membership practices of local cooperatives, Farmer Cooperative Service mailed a special questionnaire recently to 511 cooperative managers throughout the United States. Details of how the sample was drawn are summarized in the appendix, page 24. Cooperative managers and directors interested in maintaining favorable relations with their members frequently ask about the membership practices of other associations. This report is designed to answer many of those questions as well as to create interest in solving many of the member relations problems confronting farmer cooperatives.
