Extrativismo Em Sergipe:A Vulnerabilidade De Um Modo De Vida?

Abstract

Este artigo discute como as mudanças na estrutura produtiva das áreas litorâneas do Estado de Sergipe influenciam o modo de vida das populações tradicionais, cujas bases econômicas estão centradas na agricultura de subsistência, pesca artesanal, artesanato e extrativismo de produtos vegetais e animais. A valorização do solo, a especulação imobiliária e a conseqüente degradação das áreas de restinga e manguezal, advindas com as atividades turísticas, a expansão urbana e a carcinicultura, representam ameaças para essas populações e suas estratégias de reprodução social fortementes vinculadas ao meio ambiente e, por isso, vulneráveis. Ainda discute-se aqui, a necessidade da intervenção pública visando assegurar o acesso das populações tradicionais aos recursos naturais necessários à garantia da sua sobrevivência.
