Avaliação Da Eficiência Do Uso De Água Pelo Tomateiro Sob Irrigação Por Sulcos

Abstract

A irrigação como a maior usuária de recursos hídricos necessita melhorar a eficiência do uso da água para produção de alimentos. Neste contexto, o objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência do uso da água pela cultura do tomate sob irrigação por sulcos. O estudo foi realizado no Município de Estiva Gerbi/SP com o sistema de irrigação por sulcos conduzido por bandeira, o qual é amplamente utilizado na cultura de tomate. Os resultados mostraram que a eficiência de uso da água pela cultura do tomate foi baixa (3,3 kg.m-3), onde apenas 30% da água captada foi efetivamente utilizada pela cultura, e mais de 70% foi desperdiçado. Das perdas, o transporte de água até os talhões irrigados foi o principal responsável pelo desperdício. Foi constatada uma perda de água por percolação nos sulcos de irrigação ao redor de 80%. A alta perda por percolação foi conseqüência do dimensionamento e manejo inadequados deste sistema de irrigação por sulcos.
