Grau De Modernizacao Do Setor Agropecuario Na Regiao Norte Do Brasil

Abstract

O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar o grau de modernização do setor agropecuário nas microrregiões homogêneas da Região Norte do Brasil e classificá-las. Foi utilizada a técnica multivariada de análise fatorial aplicada a um conjunto de indicadores relacionados ao emprego de insumos modernos, para identificação dos fatores de modernização, e também a técnica de análise de cluster e a construção de um índice de multicausas para classificação das microrregiões em cinco agrupamentos ou classes de intensidade de modernização. Os resultados demonstraram a predominância do baixo grau de modernização, exceto em algumas regiões próximas à Belém, capital do Estado do Pará, e à Manaus, capital do Estado do Amazonas. O índice de modernização construído mostrou-se consistente para ordenar as microrregiões.
