Abstract

----------------------------------------------------------To combat the poverty was always a present objective in a large part of public politicies implemented in Cape Verde. The present article had the pretension of analyzing the incidence of the poverty in Cape Verde specifically in the identification of poverty cluster and indication of the spatial dependence of the incidence of the poverty in Santiago's Island. The results allowed to evidence the existence of different space patterns in relation to the incidence of the poverty. The neighbors tend to present similar values among, itself and different from the other places relatively more moved away. One of the main conclusions of the work is of the existence of the spatial heterogeneity in the incidence of the poverty in Santiago's Island, and also, it was evident the existence of solemnity spatial correlation of that indicator therefore the aspect "where" is important and it should be considered in the analyses of the poverty in Cape Verde.
