Abstract

--------------------------------------------The aim of this work was to analyze the economic return of conventional and transgenic soybean crop systems in the Middle Paranapanema region, in São Paulo State, Brazil, comprising risk analysis of critical variables changes. It was used the Monte Carlo Method simulation to determine the net profit of both systems under risk conditions, considering three critical variables, soybean prices, yield and herbicides use cost, because the transgenic soybean involves different types of weeds control. Throughout the results, could be observed that the transgenic soybean production system presented greater economic return and lower risk, based on the soybean prices, yield and herbicide costs considered in this study. In both systems the soybean prices had major influence on net income, than yield and herbicide costs.
