Abstract

This research is developed with the aim of studying cereal production in the vicinity of Santarém, in the State of Pará. In this context, we take into account the local productive arrangements (APL) for cereals. There is a lack of significant articulation among the agents involved in production, according to the data collected for this research. Results showed that the arrangement of grain production is simply based on tacit knowledge and that the benefits derive from specific locations. In conclusion, the poor performanance and growth is a result of both weak relations between the private and public sector, and the fact that public institutions have performed poorly, with respect to this sector.
