Abstract

-------------------------------------------This study deals with the assessment of the environmental management of the shrimp farming, particularly the case study of the growth phase in a large scale farm (larger than 50 ha), in the municipality of Aracati, State of Ceará. Based in the Code of Conduct of ABCC, 59 guidelines of the code were evaluated, of which 69,5% showed conformity, being the lack of knowledge about the implementation of the code guidelines the main reason for unadoption of practices. It was verified that the firm is knowledgeable of the environmental issues related to the production process, mainly regarding the legal demands for the operation of its activities.
