Comment améliorer la performance de la filière engrais au Mali ? Des pistes de solutions

Abstract

Au Mali, la croissance agricole repose principalement sur des stratégies d’extensification. En effet, les rendements agricoles demeurent faibles tout comme l’utilisation d’intrants modernes. L’application moyenne d’engrais azoté et phosphaté par hectare de terres arables est d’environ 14 kg au Mali, ce qui est très faible comparativement à la moyenne de 40 kg/ha en Afrique de l’Est et du Sud (Theriault et al. 2015). Reconnaissant l’importance de l’intensification agricole pour l’avenir du pays, le gouvernement malien en a fait une de ses priorités, en mettant notamment en place un programme de subvention des engrais. Les cultures concernées par cette politique de subvention sont : le riz, le coton, le maïs, le blé, le mil et le sorgho.
