Abstract

Michigan State University (MSU) has been active in Mali since 1985, with its first projects focusing on the analysis of agricultural development policies and the problems related to food security in Mali. MSU contributed or contributes to: -Helping support the agricultural market information system (OMA) by providing technical assistance for the design and implementation of the market information system, staff training, and computerization. -National capacity building by developing human resources through the transfer of experiences, in-service training , and the offering of the opportunities to 4 Malian women to pursue their studies at MSU for Masters or PhD programs; -Supporting IPR by mobilizing funds to allow it to redesign its 2-year agricultural technology curriculum in areas related to seeds production and marketing, extension, food processing, nutrition and animal health, and forestry; and -Advocating for American public funds mobilization for agriculture in Mali through the Partnership to Cut Hunger and Poverty in Africa.
