Promotion d’une chaîne de valeur inclusive: Perspectives pour le riz au Mali

Abstract

La production annuelle moyenne de riz est estimée à environ 2 millions de tonnes selon les chiffres officiels, situant le Mali parmi les plus grands producteurs de riz du Sahel. Ce niveau relativement élevé est expliqué surtout par les grandes infrastructures d’irrigation réalisées qui ont permis une augmentation significative des surfaces cultivées et un accroissement des rendements. Le riz est le seul produit au Mali dont la production est au moins pour sa moitié, sécurisée par la constance de la maitrise de l’eau. Malgré les efforts du Gouvernement, la production locale de riz demeure fluctuante d’une campagne à une autre, tributaire des facteurs pluviométriques et du faible accès aux intrants des producteurs.
