Abstract

In this note the estimation of the parameters of a multiplicative allocation model is achieved on the basis of a procedure which consists of (1) a log transformation, (ii)a linear transformation which eliminates the "noise" term due to the denominator in the original model. The procedure is applicable under fairly general assumptions and provides BLU estimators, which are linear in the logarithm of the explanatory variable.
