Abstract

Fertility tables were determined for Ancylostomia stercorea (Zell.). The caracteristic parameters for this pest of pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan) were obtained in a well ventilated room with mean temperature 27° C ± 3° C and relative humidity of 68 % ± 5 %. The intrinsic rate of increase (rm) was found to be 0.108 females/day. The finite rate of increase (\) or the multiplication rate per female per day was 1.28. The net reproductive rate (Ro) of the population was 94.81 and the mean generation time (T) was 43 days. In other words, the population multiplies 94.8 times in a generation time of 43 days. It was estimated that on reaching stable age distribution, the population of A.stercorea would comprise 59.96 % eggs, 36.71 % larvae, 3.05 % pupae and 0.28 % adults.
