Abstract

Studies were conducted to determine the effect of five rootstocks on premature fruit drop'of Parvin and Tommy Atkins, mango varieties. It was found that the number of premature fruit drop as well as the index and percentage of premature drop were on average higher for the Parvin variety. In both varieties the number of premature fruits dropped was determined by the rootstocks as well as by the degree of development of the fruit, whereas, the fruit drop index and«the percentage of fruit drop were influenced by the rootstock and by the degree of fruit development, respectively. No significant variation in percentage of fruit drop was observed among rootstocks.
