¿Cuán importante es el empleo exportador en Bolivia?

Abstract

El estudio analiza el empleo exportador –directo e indirecto– en Bolivia, utilizando información de las cuentas nacionales de 2005, 2011 y 2014, y los censos de población y vivienda. El resultado más importante es que el boom de las exportaciones, durante 2005-2014, ha creado empleos de manera modesta (a tasas menores que el valor agregado de la economía); dado que las ventas externas se han concentrado en sectores poco intensivos en mano de obra (hidrocarburos y minería). Esto explica también por qué, a nivel de socios comerciales, los miembros del MERCOSUR representaron el 50% de las exportaciones totales en 2014; pero apenas el 11,7% del empleo exportador.
