Disparidades Geográficas vs Disparidades en Habilidades de Mujeres Casadas en Ciudades Latinoamericanas: Un Modelo Teórico

Abstract

Si bien más mujeres casadas en ciudades son parte de la fuerza laboral, ¿Están realizando los trabajos para los cuales se han preparado? ¿Cómo se forman los salarios de este sector de la población? ¿Cómo afecta el ingreso del esposo o los costos de transporte a sus decisiones laborales? ¿Cuál es la estructura de una ciudad latinoamericana con sectores formal e informal? Este artículo propone un modelo teórico que estudia la interacción entre las disparidades geográficas (hogar-trabajo) y disparidades en habilidades de las mujeres casadas en ciudades latinoamericanas. Se incluye la característica intrínseca de informalidad en estos mercados y se analiza cómo dichas disparidades afectan los resultados de este mercado laboral en particular. Luego de realizar un análisis de bienestar, y encontrar externalidades de congestión y composición, se proponen tres políticas económicas para restaurar la eficiencia social de esta economía. Estas son: (i) subsidio a la creación de vacancias, (ii) subsidio al transporte y (iii) la creación de guarderías, para de esta forma restaurar la eficiencia social.
