Abstract

Pretendemos retomar os principais elementos da controvérsia sobre a transição do feudalismo ao capitalismo que ficou conhecida como “O Debate Brenner”: a) a crítica de Robert Brenner à raiz comum que liga a perspectiva mercantil (derivada de P. Sweezy) à demográfica (M.M. Postan, J. Hatcher, etc.); b) a interpretação de Brenner sobre a derrocada do modo de produção feudal, onde o autor salienta o papel central que a luta de classes desempenhou neste processo.
