Abstract

A book by Isabelle Chapellière, a French professor of economics at the University of Aix-en-Provence, located in the south of France, about 32 kilometers from the city of Marseille. She began her interest in Islamic finance in its economic and geopolitical dimensions since her doctoral thesis in 2004 on "Islam and Economic Reasonableness: From Islamic Ethics to Islamic Finance: Turkey as a Model", under the guidance of Gilles Nancy, Professor of Economics and Olivier, Roy is a professor of political science at the same university. In this thesis, the conclusion is that Islamic banks are a competitor and complement to traditional banks, and represent an attempt to create capitalism rather than a convincing alternative to traditional finance or as a cornerstone of a new type of economic system.
