Mozat: Launching a Mobile Game in the Middle East and North Africa

Abstract

In July 2013, after two years of running the game department of Mozat in China, Dr. Huang faced a major challenge: How to launch a new mobile game, Invader, in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, independently from Shabik, a social platform that had so far been Mozat's core product. Until now, games developed by Mozat were integrated into Shabik, therefore representing a secondary role in the strategy of the 10-year-old Singapore-based mobile software company. Dr. Huang had a call with Dr. Yin, CEO and co-founder of Mozat, who gave him his views regarding how to generate more profit through the launch of an independent game. That could be the first step to diversifying the company's activities and changing its business model to boost its growth…
