Abstract

It is estimated that by 2020, food supply in the world will have to be increased by 50%, although the amount of land and water for agriculture remains restricted. The creation of an efficient logistics system is still a challenge for many countries. It is difficult to predict how the demand for biofuels will change, as this will depend on the evolution of automobiles, levels of consumer and industrial demand, as well as institutional environments and government policy. As such, strategic business planning at the national and international levels is required to deal with all these environmental changes, and opportunities for growth in the food and biofuels production chains should be explored…
