Abstract

This paper proposes a decision support system to assist a software company to incorporate the competence sets of its subsidiaries thus to maximize the total benefit of the whole group. The proposed system is composed of a database, a model base and a dialog part. The databases contain the skills required for developing product, the existing skills, and the costs for learning new skills. The model base is a mixed 0-1 linear program which would find maximal benefit subjected to the related constraints. The dialog part is used to update data and model and to display the tentative solution to the decision makers. A detail discussion of the decision model could be found in Li (1999).
