Abstract

This chapter relates to how managers can improve their decision-making quality through the concept of data warehousing and data mining. By using a practical application of data mining in information technology (IT) purchase database and by analyzing the results, it is demonstrated that data mining could be used to obtain information, support the decision-making process, and formulate strategies in the procurement area. This chapter is particularly useful for procurement managers as they often are confronted with a large data set.
