Some Memories and Reflections on and of Yair Aharoni

Abstract

I met Yair for the first time in the late 1980s at a small synagogue we both attended in Durham, North Carolina. At the time, he was a visiting Professor at Duke, and I was a doctoral student and teaching at North Carolina State University. While we shared some academic interests, my memories from those years are that we did not get into specific research topics but rather discussed other issues of mutual interest. Some years later, while at the University of Auckland, my own research interests gravitated toward international business and professional service firms, and it was then that I noticed the prominence of the “Aharoni” name in both these literatures. I renewed contact with Yair, we reconnected, and we began working on several projects…
