Methods of Impact Evaluation for International Development

Abstract

Impact Evaluation (IE) can be divided into non-experimental methods and experimental methods. Non-experimental evaluation methods mainly include before–after comparison, with–without comparison, instrument variables, difference-in-differences, synthetic controls, and regression discontinuity design. The experimental evaluation methods mainly include the method of randomized controlled trials which is booming in recent years.
