Abstract

Having invested in a Fixed Coupon Note (FCN), continuous monitoring of the position is as important as monitoring an Equity position. Typically, an Investor would be checking the prices of his Equity holdings either several times a day or at least once a day. A similar level of alertness is required regarding FCN positions. An Investor should not treat this position like a Fixed Income position where the movement on a day to day basis is not very significant. This is so both from the Risk Management perspective and also from the performance evaluation perspective. The first way to keep track is to simply watch the Bank statement provided by the Private Bank or Wealth Manager. These statements are available online and can be viewed anytime as per the convenience of the Investor. However, the Investor must be aware that the prices of various securities are not real time but are updated once a day…
