Abstract

A common complaint by battle-hardened conventional business professionals is that the full purposes of sustainable business are too theoretical, abstract, and difficult to obtain. The 25-year business veteran of recessions, corporate bailouts, mergers, takeovers, and buyouts is usually more comfortable discussing cost-saving energy efficiency improvements than conversions to sustainable energy systems. Furthermore, some appointed company sustainability leaders insist that high-minded sustainable business ideology, such as sun-powered energy sources, products of service closed-loop systems, natural world emulation, and incentivizing locally owned business, is simply not practical or particularly important. Instead, these pragmatists say we should get our heads out of the clouds and concentrate on decreasing pollution and waste, which can save the company money…
