Abstract

This chapter presents a logit model identifying the impact of scandals at the 2006 presidential elections in Mexico. We introduce some commands in STATA 12, which allow an analysis of the volatility of voters, variables generation, reporting of descriptive statistics for the model´s variables, estimation of the logit model, presentation and interpretation of results and computing the the quality of such models using the goodness of fit and classification matrix. The main conclusion is that scandals in democracies like Mexico, generate marginally a greater impact on voter preferences, among other findings.
