Abstract

We live in times of rapid technological progress, where information is easily accessible. Everything is happening very quickly, even in schools. The term .education. is gone from the curriculum, despite school being an educational institution: we do not have Physical Education anymore, we have Sports. Education on values and relations cannot and must not be left to coincidence. Digitalisation has found its way into the school facilitiesand into homes. In the past two years we have noticed a rise of pupils with less developed social skills, heavy desensitization, poor emotional intelligence, and crippled motivation. With boys we can observe apathy, excessive agression, and a lack of self-control. With girls we can note ostracism. We realise that we are preparing the pupils for life in a community and life with one another. A good class climate affects motivation and results in better learning achievements ¨C that is why we have given much attention to education on relations. The pupils are more successful when they feel accepted, safe, important and requisite in a community. That is why Savo Kladnik Sevnica Elementary has evaluated the class climate in connection to self-evaluation in all 33 sections with a psychodiagnostic questionnaire. We evaluated the initial state, integrated activities for the improvement of relations, and finally assessed the effects in the context of class environment, relations and the system of work. We have published a collection of scientific papers which serves as a source of information of the department's work.
