Parents At School Are Not Necessarily A Burden To The Teacher

Parents are usually called to school when the trouble occur. But I would like to present that this is not necessarily true. I am interested in astronomy, so I often try to enthuse my students as well. Since there are only a few lessons intended for astronomy in primary school curriculum, I enable the students to study astronomy outside the classes. In the current school year, we built a nature trail called Our solar system. Our idea was to connect central and branch school with a path and nine stations representing the Sun and the eight planets. It is important that it avoids the traffic. In order to give it another purpose, we decided to organize science days for nearby schools. But without our students' parents it would be difficult to make the idea come true. They have contributed when buying information boards to place at the stations with the Sun and planets represented on them, helped us dealing with our commune and the owners of the land on which the boards stand, they have cooperated in getting sponsors and advised in designing information boards and promotion materials. Last but not least, they were doing this in their free time, so afternoons or even Saturdays, but always with plenty of energy and goodwill. To conclude, parents can be a remarkable help if the teachers cooperate with them.
