Abstract

The education system in Bangladesh and West Bengal has undergone significant changes over the years. The system has been influenced by various factors such as religion, language, history, politics, and political ideologies. The quality and quantity of school education in both Bangladesh and West Bengal require serious attention to live up to the legacy created by the predecessors. In recent times, the demand for higher education has increased significantly, leading to the establishment of new colleges and universities. However, despite having many higher education institutions, both Bangladesh and West Bengal are facing various problems and challenges related to higher education. Quality assurance is the most important factor for achieving the goals of higher education. The parameters for assessing the quality of higher education institutes in both Bangladesh and West Bengal need to be revised and redefined towards making a unified quality-assurance mechanism. Gender parity is a significant determinant of economic growth in Asia. Notably, the Gender Parity Index (GPI) is higher in Bangladesh than in India with an upward trend. The index signifies that female gross enrollment in education is high in Bangladesh compared to India. Moreover, non-formal education in improving the quality of life of underprivileged children in South Asia considering their economic, health, environmental, and social aspects. Various organizations both in Bangladesh and West Bengal of India promote non-formal education opportunities for underprivileged people to improve their quality of life.
